The PSC Community Begins

In December 1967, Peninsula Sinai Congregation was formed, holding its first worship services in a San Mateo Church.  Early members included Steve Pearlman, Sam Zelver, David Reina, Jon Gruschka, Murray Bloom and Manny Hirschel.  The Congregation grew and founded its own shul in 1979.

Settling into our shul

Our physical facility was completed in three phases. The education wing, containing four classrooms, a kitchen, and the Col. David J. Reina memorial library, was dedicated in 1979. The second phase, consisting of the sanctuary/social hall and administrative offices, was completed in 1984.

In May 2000 a substantial remodel was completed, which included a dedicated sanctuary, additional classrooms, a lounge, expanded offices, library and a full catering kitchen. More recently, the sanctuary was updated with new pews and carpeting. Finally, set up during the pandemic, livestreaming has been added for members to participate in our ritual services and events remotely.

Building for the future

Our Board of Trustees and special committees constantly evaluate the needs of our community and are committed to making our PSC space homey, functional and special.
