K-1st Grade

  • Decorated Challah Covers
  • Made Candles for Shabbat
  • Read "The Shabbat Box" and then made their own!  The box will be going home to each family in the weeks after the Thanksgiving break.

 

2nd Grade

  • Made Challah Covers and Candles

3rd-5th Grade

  • The 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders started off the morning by performing a skit for everyone at Kesher about the weekly Torah portion: the story of Yitzhak and Rivka's twin sons, Yakov and Esav.

  • Hebrew reading practice
  • Learned about the importance of equality
  • made posters about different cultures

6th Grade

  • We are getting close on learning all of Ashrei and the Amidah!
  • We worked on Hebrew reading and vocabulary.

    • 3rd grade practiced alphabet
    • 4th and 5th worked on Micha Mocha and 3rd grade joined soon after
  • Made Hannukkah candles
  • Wrote a script for this Friday's shabbat service and rehearsed. 

3rd-5th Grade will be leading this Week's Shabbat Services

6th Grade 

  • Practiced Prayers and Torah Trope

7th Grade 

  • Learned about the prayer Ashrei (psalm 145).  Practiced reading and reciting the Hebrew.

Made Challah covers and learned the letter ח for חלה (challah)

 

2nd grade

  • Reviewed Hebrew letters and did some reading!
  • Practiced the prayer Modeh Ani
  • Played Shabbat Bingo

 

3-5th grade

  • practiced a skit on the weekly parsha to perform for the other students next Sunday
  • practiced the prayer "Mi Kamocha" to lead at Friday night services this week
  • learned about the idea of "tselem elokim," we were all created in God's image
  • Learned how to count to 10 in Hebrew

 

 

6th grade

  • Practiced the prayers the Amidah and Ashrei
  • Played Jew-pardy to work on Hebrew vocabulary

Chugim!!!:

Starting this week, all of the classes began participating in different Chugim (elective) activities led by our Madrichim: Rikud (Dance), Mishake Luach (Board Games), Sport, and Omanut (Arts and Crafts).

Caption: our Madrichim introduce the Chugim at the end of Tefillah.  We are all up and dancing with their ruach!

Omanut (arts & crafts)

If your child would like to participate in Tie-Dye next week, feel free to bring in a plain white T shirt or pillowcase! We will supply bandanas.

K-1st Grade:

  • Practiced Hebrew Numbers and Letters
  • Learned the letter Kaf (כּ)
  • Made their own Kiddush Cups
  • Read a book about Shabbat

3rd-5th Grade:

    • 3rd Graders did their packets while 4th-5th Graders wrote words for our Hebrew word wall
  • All kids worked on the monthly newspaper (Hopefully coming soon!!)
  • Read and learned about this week's parasha, Vayera 

6th Grade:

  • Continued to work on Hebrew vocabulary.  For example, for the nautically inclined, we learned how to read and write words like dag (fish) and meduza (jellyfish).
  • Continued working on tefillah as we prepare for our B'Mitzvahs!​​​​​​​

Noah's Ark Parade!!

Today Students from all grades and families participated in the Noah's Ark Animal Parade!  Students brought their pets and favorite stuffed animals to share with the Kesher community.

6th-7th Grade

Sunday:

  • of Jeopardy on Hebrew and the days of creation
  • Learned about the 7 Days of Creation
  • Had a debate on whether or not Adam and Eve should have eaten the Fruit of Knowledge

Sukkot | September 22 - Calendarr

Kindergarden-1st Grade:

  • (ל) Lamed was the Hebrew letter of the week
  • Read books about Sukkot 
  • Listened to songs about Sukkot
  • Made decorations and decorated the Sukkah

 

3-5th Grade:

  • Worked on Hebrew Workbooks in separate groups for 3rd and 5th Grade
  • Made a GIANT paper chain to decorate the Sukkah
  • Baked Apple and Chocolate Chip strudels for Sukkot
  • Played Sukkot themed Mafia

6th Grade:
