Teens play a vital part in our community and have a number of opportunities to be involved in learning, planning teen events, or enriching their skills working with children in the religious school. Listed below are ways teens can get involved at PSC.
Kabbalat Torah: Kabbalat Torah (meaning accepting Torah) is our program just for teens, which offers instruction on a variety of Jewish subjects and engaging discussion and debate. The 8th grade class is taught by the Cantor/Education Director Doron Shapira, and the 9th-12th grade class is taught by Rabbi Corey Helfand. Classes meet 2-3 Wednesdays per month from 6:30-8:00 PM. See calendar here.
Madrichim: Teens play an active role in the religious school classrooms serving as dugmaot (role models) to students and assisting teachers with classroom activities. Madrichim can also work with the Education Director in the office. All madrichim attend workshops to further develop their skills working with children. Madrichim can choose to receive community service hours or pay for their work in the religious school. Madrichim work in the religious school on Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00 and/or Sundays from 9:00-12:00.
